Welcome from the Right Reverend Marcus Stock
Bishop of Leeds, Chairman of the Catholic Education Service
For centuries, the Catholic Church has made the provision of pastoral care and education central to its mission to evangelise and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the world.
In today’s digital age, and the dangers associated with it, the provision of high quality Catholic RSHE (Relationship, Sex and Health Education) curriculum is an essential part of our response to keep children safe. Parents are, and will always remain, the primary natural educators of their children. Catholic schools support parents in the exercise of their responsibilities in this role and they are increasingly at the forefront of dealing with the challenges which many young people face.
I am pleased therefore to present this new RSHE E-Learning Course. This online training programme for teachers has been developed by the Catholic Education Service with Ten Ten Resources and in conjunction with the Department for Education.
The training and the model curriculum are deeply rooted in, and faithful to, the Catholic Church’s vision of the human person as created in the image and likeness of God and the truth and meaning of human sexuality. The content of the curriculum is based upon the God-given dignity of each and every pupil and through an understanding of the Virtues teaches our children and young people to make healthy choices that will benefit them for the rest of their lives.
I would like to thank you for your commitment to make the teaching of Catholic RSHE a success. I also thank you for the support you give to parents in their role and the pastoral guidance which you provide for young people as you live out your vocation as a teacher in your Catholic school.
